Osteopathic Care in Mississauga and Burlington

Every person who comes through the door brings a unique combination of history, habits, and structure. The symptoms can shift depending on how you are moving, whether you are sitting, standing, or walking - but your anatomy does not change. It is constant.

At JD Osteopathy, we look at all the parts of your body that make you who you are, so we can understand what your body is having difficulty doing. The goal is not to chase the feelings that come along for the ride. It is to find what is driving them.

Below are the areas we commonly assess and work with. Many complaints overlap and connect; a restricted rib can affect breathing, a stiff thoracic spine can drive neck pain, an old ankle sprain can show up in the hip years later. Whatever brings you in, the assessment starts with the whole body.

Neck Pain and Stiffness

Restricted movement, one-sided tightness, pain that returns after treatment elsewhere. Often connected to the thoracic spine and rib cage rather than the neck itself. Read more about neck pain

Headache and Migraines

Recurring headaches, pressure at the base of the skull, migraines with no clear trigger. Cervical spine and cranial mechanics are frequently involved. Read more about headaches

Jaw Pain and TMJ Complaints

Recurring headaches, pressure at the base of the skull, migraines with no clear trigger. Cervical spine and cranial mechanics are frequently involved. Read more about headaches

Areas We Work On

Shoulder Pain and Mobility

Shoulder complaints that return after physio or massage, restricted reach, pain with overhead movement or at rest. The thoracic spine and rib cage are almost always part of the picture. Read more about shoulder pain

Rib Pain and Breathing Difficulty

Sharp pain with breathing, a feeling of not being able to take a full breath, tenderness along the rib cage. Rib restrictions affect the mechanics of every breath and can have a significant effect on how the body manages stress and tension.

Upper, Mid, and Lower Back Pain

Stiffness that builds through the day, pain that shifts depending on position, recurring tension that massage temporarily relieves. The spine is assessed as a whole - where pain is felt is rarely where the work happens. Read more about back pain

Pelvic and Sacral Pain

Tailbone discomfort, pelvic asymmetry, pain that sits deep and is difficult to describe. The sacrum connects the spine above to the lower limbs below and is a central structure in most lower body complaints.

Hip Pain

Deep hip aching, restricted range, pain that travels into the groin or buttock. Hip complaints often have roots in the lumbar spine and pelvis above, or the knee and lower limb below. Read more about hip pain

Sciatica and Leg Pain

Pain, tingling, or weakness travelling down the leg. Sciatica is a symptom rather than a diagnosis - the source of nerve irritation can be the disc, the piriformis, the sacroiliac joint, or a combination. Read more about sciatica

Knee Pain and IT Band Complaints

Knee pain that persists despite rest, lateral knee tightness, discomfort on stairs or after sitting for extended periods. The knee sits between the hip and the ankle - both are assessed when the knee is the complaint. Read more about knee pain

Ankle Pain and Low Mobility

Reduced range, stiffness after old sprains, recurring tightness that stretching does not fully resolve. Ankle restrictions affect the entire lower limb chain and can drive complaints as far up as the lower back. Read more about ankle and foot pain

Plantar Fasciitis and Heel Pain

Pain along the arch or at the heel, worst first thing in the morning or after sitting. Plantar fasciitis is rarely a local foot problem — the mechanical load driving it usually originates higher in the chain. Read more about ankle and foot pain

Digestive and Visceral Complaints

Bloating, discomfort, or tension that does not have a clear medical cause. Visceral techniques are part of classical osteopathic practice and address the mobility and mechanical environment of the abdominal organs where appropriate.

If you are not sure whether osteopathy is right for what you are experiencing, the most straightforward thing to do is book an initial assessment. The first appointment is an assessment and treatment — you will leave with a clear picture of what was found and a plan for what comes next.

No referral required at either location.
