Why I Started JD Osteopathy I founded JD Osteopathy in 2020, right at the heart of the world shutting down, I was planning to open the doors to those who needed help most. After getting the foundations from The Canadian Academy of Osteopathy, I kept seeing the same pattern: Patients would come to me after months—sometimes years—of treatment that never addressed the real problem.
They'd been to physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage... They'd get temporary relief, but the pain always came back. Why? Because everyone was treating where it hurt, not why it hurt. I trained in osteopathy specifically because it teaches you to think through the whole body—to trace symptoms back to their source using anatomical reasoning.
That's what we do at JD Osteopathy. We don't just apply techniques. We think. We assess. We find the real problem. And we help your body heal itself.
Finding health means to ensure your body's natural ability to self-heal is uninterrupted by restoring the natural equilibrium.
After graduating with Honours from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Science degree, I received my Master in Practice (MOMSc.) from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy that is recognized and monitored by Ontario Osteopathic Association - OSTCAN, Osteopathy Canada.
The real learning begins in the office and I dedicate my days to ensuring my patients get the best care from me and the other practitioners. I can't wait for your success!

Joanna Makutsa
Joanna tailors treatments to address the underlying causes of her patients concerns, using a holistic approach to restore motion and symmetry through gentle manipulations. She focuses on promoting the body's self-healing abilities during full-body assessments and treatments. Joanna treats both individuals with specific complaints and those seeking a general "tune-up."
In addition to her practice, Joanna is a teacher's assistant at CAO, assisting students with osteopathic techniques. Joanna holds a Master of Osteopathic Manipulative Science (M.OMSC) from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy (CAO). She is a member in good standing with both OSTCAN and the Ontario Osteopathic Association (OOA).
