OSTEOPATHY IN MISSISSAUGA
Plantar Fasciitis Treatment in Mississauga
That sharp heel pain on your first steps in the morning is one of the most stubborn foot complaints there is. The arch and heel are where the whole leg finally lands, so what overloads them often starts further up the chain.
Who this is for
- Sharp heel pain on your first steps out of bed in the morning
- Pain that eases as you warm up but returns after rest or sitting
- An ache along the arch or into the heel after a day on your feet
- Stretching, rolling, and inserts that have only helped so much
- Tight calves or a stiff ankle on the same side as the heel pain
- Pain that came on after a change in shoes, activity, or mileage
- A hip or knee on that side that has not felt right either
- Pain during running or after a break from exericse
What treatment involves at JD Osteopathy
The arch is where load from the hip, knee, and ankle finally arrives, so the whole leg is assessed rather than the heel alone. When the calf, ankle, or hip is not moving well, the arch is often left absorbing more than its share and the tissue protests. Treatment works with what the assessment finds up the chain rather than only at the painful heel.
What to expect
Many people notice those first morning steps ease within the first sessions. How long it takes depends on how long the arch has been overloaded. A typical course is three to six visits, reassessed each time so the work stays matched to your progress. We will assess not just the plantar region of the foot, but the entire foot, ankle, lower limb and tracing it through the pelvis and lower back. This is important because we need to determine whether the plantar fasciitis is being caused by the leg itself, or possible sustained strain from higher up in the body.
It’s important to not leave any stone unturned, so that we’re not just guessing and giving generic advice like rolling a ball on the bottom of your foot. When you come for a treatment at JD Osteopathy, we make sure we get to the bottom of the issue, not just give you a temporary solution.
